b. 1806 m. Mary Ann Coxon, Sheffield, 1842. Records indicate that Edward married Mary Ann only after the birth of their sixth child (see also Thomas Tunaley Jnr.) Edward d. 9-3-1865.
Eliza Tunaley who is shown as informant on Edward Tunaley's death certificate in 1865 is also shown as living at Park St., Derby prior to her marriage 1869. 1881 census has Edward John Shaw, aged 23, birthplace St. Werburgh's Derby, working as a Coal Merchant's Clerk in Ipswich St. Mary, Suffolk. Interestingly, Park Street where Sarah was living prior to marriage was where Ann Tunaley (daughter of Samuel Tunaley) and John Walker were living, according to the 1861 census. There is therefore a suggested link between John Walker and Joe Shaw Snr (railway manager) in terms of employment within the railway industry.

In 1861 census, Edward, the father, is given as "Visitor" to Park St. In 1851 census, the Edward Tunaley family had been living at 69, Bridge Gate, Derby. Edward died 1865. |

Sarah married Joe shortly after mother Mary Ann died. 1861 census has Sarah and Joe living in Park St., Derby. Sister Kate and brother Frank aged 13 and 9 are listed as sister/brother-in-law and living at the Park St. address with the Shaw family. In 1871 census Frank Tunaley is listed as still living with the family at 6 Lower Park St., Derby but there is no mention of Kate Tunaley who by now would be aged 23. Frank now working as a Railway Clerk. In 1881 census, Sarah's brother Frank Septimus is now married to Emma living at 35, Warner St., Derby (see photo). |
